'Maharathi' to hit screen with 300 prints


Directed by P Vasu, presented by Rangana Adiseshaiah and produced by Vakada Appa Rao on the banner of Sri Lalitha Kalanjali Productions, 'Maharathi' with Balakrishna, Sneha and Meera Jasmine in the lead is all set to hit the screen on February 1. Director P Vasu says, 'Never before in his career, Balakrishna played hero in such a subject. It will be a definite different film for him. The audiences could watch an entirely different Balakrishna. I am sure that 'Maharathi' would remain a best film in our careers and would be a sure hit. Jayaprada played a key role in this film and I am sure that there are many chances for her becoming busy in films after the release of this film. It is well aware that the audio given by Gurukiran was a biggest hit and remained a chart buster. Thotapalli Madhu gave an excellent subject and dialogues. We wish the film a big success.'

Jagadam on Feb 14th, Evadaite Nakenti on 7th

Rajashekar’s self-produced film – Evadaithe Nakenti is finally going to hit the screen on this 7th of February. V. Samudra directs this film, for which Chinna scores the music. Shivani Rajashekar and Shivatma Rajashekar are the producers. Meanwhile, Arya fame Sukumar and Devadasu fame Ram’s Jagadam is going to hit the market on the 14th of February 2007. The film has gone severely over budget. The producer declared that the film cost 13.5 crores to make. The music by Devi Sri Prasad is an instant chart topper. The songs ‘5 feet 8 inches’ and ’36-24-36’ are instant hits. The movie is being produced by Aditya Babu.

Krishna Productions Pvt Ltd's Atidhi starring Mahesh Babu, Amrita Rao is officially launched today at Padmalaya studios. The event was organized in simple manner without much hype. Adiseshagiri Rao gave the first clap while Krishna switched on the camera. K.Raghavendra Rao directed the first shot. Regular shooting will start in February. Prakashraj, Kota, Nazar, Asish Vidyarthi, Sunil are confirmed in the cast. Manisharma is composing music. Surendra Reddy is the director and Ramesh Babu is the producer.

NBK hints political entry in 2009

There has been speculation that Nandamuri Balakrishna will join state politics in future like his father late NTR. NBK also hints that he is interested in politics.Recently NDTV interviewed Balakrishna and asked whether he’d join the politics in the future. “Might be,” he relied hinting if need arises he would plunge into it. Buzz is that NBK will be actively involving in state politics in 2009.

Political comments make fans happy
Added to this his recent remarks about his political entry have created a flurry among his fans. Even the Telugu Desam party, which is down nowadays, sees resurgence now with his entry. Some TD leaders are planning to meet NBK personally and express their joy over his decision.

Kalyanram to play Dual Role


Nandamuri Kalyanram who became popular with two hit films like 'Athanokkade and Asadhyudu' is presently playing hero in 'Lakshmi Kalyanam'. His forthcoming film would be directed by Swarna Subba Rao and produced by Katragadda Lokesh on the banner of Polygon Movies. For the first time, Kalyanram is going to play dual role in this film. Parvathi Melton would be one of the heroines, while the names of Sada and Bhoomika are being heard for the other heroine. It is learnt that Kalyanram would sport a different character in this film. The film is going to be launched formally on January 21, while 'Lakshmi Kalyanam' is going to hit screen on February 9.

Harris Jayaraj for RCT movie

Music director Harris Jayaraj, who recently scored music for Aswini Dutt's Sainikudu, has been signed by the prolific filmmaker again to compose the music for his next venture, to be directed by Puri Jagannath and starring Ramcharan Teja in the lead. Harris is also composing for the Prabhas-Ileana starrer Munna.The shooting will commence in February 2007.Incidentally, Prabhudeva's remake of the Bollywood hit Lage Raho Munnabhai, starring Chiranjeevi in the lead, will also commence in the same month.Isn't it a double treat for Chiru's fans!

Yogi in 500 Theatres


The censor formalities for 'Yogi' directed by VV Vinayak, presented by Kadapa Mayor Ravindranath Reddy and produced by P Sudarshan Reddy and P Chandrapratap Reddy on the banner of Eswari Films Pvt Ltd., with Young Rebel Star Prabhas and Nayanatara in the lead were completed and the film had bagged U/A certificate. The film with mother sentiment in its backdrop is the remake of a successful Kannada film 'Jogi'. Urvasi Sarada is playing the role of mother to Prabhas. Presenter of the film Ravindranath Reddy says, 'Prabhas performance in the climax is tremendous.' The film is all set to hit 500 theatres on January 14 as a Bhogi festival gift. The producers say that the film would remain a milestone in the career of Prabhas.

Raja - Upendra Movie


If sources are to be believed, Kannada star Upendra (who also did few Telugu movies) will play negative role in a film to be directed by Priyadarsan Ram. 'Anand' Raja will play the lead in this film. Priyadaran Ram earlier directed a film with Bharat titled Manodu. This Raja, Upendra starrer might go on to sets from February. Other details are still awaited on the project.

AMAV in Dubbing Progress


Dubbing work is in progress for 'Aadavari Maatalaku Ardhale Verule' directed by Sriraghava and produced by Shanam Naga Ashokkumar on the banner of Sri Saideva Productions with Venkatesh and Trisha in the lead. The film had completed 90 per cent of the shooting. Trisha is playing a different role as a Brahmin girl in this flick. Yuvan Shankar Raja gave melodious tunes for this film. The audio of the film would be launched in February first week and the film would be released as Sivarathri gift.

Asin Replaces Vidya Balan

Bollywood babe Vidya Balan has backed out of megastar Chiranjeevi’s next, Shankardada Zindabad citing her inability to accommodate dates. The fact is that she is not keen on making debut into South Indian films at this juncture as her career is reaching all time high in Bollywood. Hence her manager seems to have expressed to the producers of Shankardada Zindabad that she won’t be doing this film.Now the producers are keen on signing Asin for the said role. Discussions are going on. Asin who was recently seen opposite Pawan Kalyan in Annavaram is most probably the heroine if everything goes well.If not Asin, the other option for them is Nayanatara.

Sneha to play in 'Rangaa… Panduranga…'


It may be recalled here that noted director K Raghavendra Rao who gave two big devotional hits like 'Annamayya' and 'Sriramadasu' with Nagarjuna is now planning a film with Balakrishna in the lead.Balakrishna is playing dual roles in the film as Lord Panduranga and also his devotee Sri Pundareeka. The story and script are being prepared by JK Bharavi, who gave scripts for 'Annamayya and Sriramadasu'. Keeravani is again teaming up with Raghavendra Rao for this film to provide tunes. It is reliably learnt that Sneha, who gave an excellent performance in Sriramadasu, is being roped in as heroine in this film. The regular shooting of this film would begin in March and Nayanatara is being considered as another heroine in this film.

Athidhi launch on Jan 21st


The successful combination Mahesh-Surrendar-Ramesh is working together for 'Atithi' and the industry is eagerly waiting when the film would go to sets. It is reliably learnt that this prestigious film would be formally launched on January 21 at Mumbai. Noted heroine Amritha Rao is pairing up with Maheshbabu in this flick. According to the director and producer, the film would be an action flick and would be on par with the Prince's earlier film 'Pokiri'.Maheshbabu's brother G Rameshbabu earlier produced Arjun with him.

The success of the film 'Bommarillu' kept Dil Raju on the top of successful producers and even he is quoting whopping prices for the dubbing rights of the same.Now, he is making the film 'Munna' with Prabhas in lead role. Nagarjuna backs out of Touch


Hero Nagarjuna who floated a resto bar, Touch, in Hyderabad has now backed out of it. Along with his friend Pritam Reddy, Nagarjuna ventured into restaurant business. In a statement sent to the media, Nag said Touch has been handed over to new management. That means, Nagarjuna now only holds stake in MAA Television, one of the leading TV channels in Andhra Pradesh.

Huge island set for 'Yamadonga'


Though doing only one film per year, SS Rajamouli earned the name of a successful director, with each of his film making a big hit. After bagging a hit with 'Vikramarkudu' this year, he chose to do 'Yamadonga' with NT Rama Rao.It may be mentioned here that there were two big hits in their combination like 'Student No. 1 and Simhadri' and Rajamouli is firm on achieving a hattrick with NTR through this third film. It is a socio fantasy film and is being made with an inspiration of the late NTR's film 'Yamagola' and already started creating a craze among the audiences.Now, Rajamouli had come out to prove his individual identity and was erecting a huge set at Durgam Cheruvu under the direction of art director Ananda Sai. It is a house set in an island. To reach the house, one had to use boats and hence the unit had acquired boats from the Tourism Development Authority. In order to carry the material necessary for shooting, a punt was also arranged. Travelling in a boat, that too near Hyderabad is a different experience for the unit.
